Get ready to meet your new best friend!
Orange Street Cats uses a foster-to-adopt model in place of an in-person meeting prior to adoption. You provide a foster home to the cat you are interested in adopting for a trial period. This gives you and your family an opportunity to be sure this is a good fit before you make the commitment to adopt. Our adoption team is available during and after the transition period to make sure our adopters and our cats are happy together!
The process begins by filling out an adoption application, which is at the link below. Our committee will review your application, someone will likely contact you to have an opportunity to ask questions. Once there is an approved application, we’ll arrange with you to receive the foster-to-adopt kitty.
Please begin by filling out an adoption application below. One of our volunteers will review your application and if you are approved, you will be contacted by a board member. We are based in the Capital Region and you will need to be available to come pick up the cat from the foster home.

If the adoption isn’t working out, can I return the animal to you?
Yes. We understand that life happens, and unforeseen events occur, and we will thank you for honoring our contract. According to the foster-to-adopt contract you sign, you are legally obligated to inform us if you are no longer able to keep the pet and return to Orange Street Cats. That is true even after you adopt the cat -- if for any reason at any point after adoption you cannot keep the cat that you will return him/her to us so that we can take them back into foster care and find them a forever home.
